SUMMER HATS

Summer hats are a great addition to any trip to the beach . However darlings hats are not just for the beach, but may be the finishing touch to any outfit. Therefore it may be fun to consider a hat to be the starting point for a summer look . In my opinion a hat can be the topping on the cake.

GREAT HATS SAY SOMETHING

First and foremost hats remind me of the Queen of England . I love the royal family, no one wears a hat more or better than the Queen , she must have a palace full of hats. A hat can make a statement and that statement may be more than a fashion statement. Last week Her Majesty opened parliment and her hat stole the show .(. I know this may seem off the point darlings but bare with me ) In fact The Queen is not supposed to comment on politics , but she could not resist a satorial commentary on Britians upcoming exit from the European Union.

Since I'm a costume designer , I love when clothes say somthing. Therefore I was delighted when her royal highness used clothing to send a message of unity . Great hats say something just like clothing . Since choosing clothing can be for many reasons sometimes our clothing sends a message. Since hats are an optional element when you choose to wear a hat it too can send a message.

CHOOSING THE PERFECT HAT

While wearing a hat is not as common as it once was it can be the perfect accessory. On the otherhand a hat could be functional ,to guard your face from the sun or maybe to save you from a bad hair day.

However when choosing the right hat you a have a number of considerations . Of course a summer hat by it's very nature makes a statement. Therefore decide where you want to wear the hat, with what you are going to wear it, and the color and shape .

SUMMER HATS

Since we are dealing with summer hats , natural straw or raffia are common materials. While straw may be the material it comes in many colors. Another consideration is shape/style ,most summer hats have large brims to protect the face from the sun . Howeverer smaller brimed straw hats can also be chic and stylish. Usually you will choose a hat to either match the color of your outfit or to be a contrast Therefore the color is really just your own personal preference.

DRESS THE PART; WHERE ARE YOU WEARING YOUR HAT

At the same time where you are wearing your hat will help you make a selection. Therefore you my want a hat for days at the beach , for a summer vacation or for a speacial event like a summer party or wedding . Many of the hats today will take you from the beach to the wedding . Since versatility is always a great option here are a few tips . If you choose a hat for the beach it may double for the party or wedding by adding a scarf , a brooch, or a pin . This can change the color or by pinning up the brim or side you change the shape. If your need a hat for the beach or vacation ,you want a hat that you can fold or roll , alot of hats are made to retain their shpape after being packed.
