BAGS FOR SPRING

Handbags are always a favorite fashion statement. The Spring and Summer shows for 2017 were all held early in the fall. The design houses put forth their new collections and  showed a great variety of handbags, I love the finishing touches of an outfit and one of those is a great bag.

Hence  designers from New York, London, Paris and Milan seldom agree on much but one common factor is handbags are the backbone of the luxury market.This is one of those areas where you must "Dress the Part". A fabulous bag speaks volumes and the arm candy you choose really defines your style.

WHAT'S NEW WITH HANDBAGS FOR S/S 2017

My dears there's great news from the catwalks as far as bags are concerned. The  S/S 2017 collections showed a huge variety of bags . The designers really went all out and the result was innovative design . Hence we saw bags that in part out shone some of the rest of the collections.

Most noteworthy this spring was the incredible assortment of handbags. A few trends seemed to be present. We were witness to some cutting edge shapes , beautiful patterns as well as some timeless classics. While many different designs were  shown , let's look at the those trends.

  # 1. ITSY BITSY BABY BAGS

While we have seen small purses before , this was a real trend this season . Small bags on chains and paired with larger ones were a strong trend this season. Suitable for you lipstick,credit card, condoms and coins but not much else . These tiny . miniature purses were a common theme. We saw them from Hermes,Valentino Fendi, Coach, and Chloe to name just a few.

#2. METALICS AND SHINY BAGS.

While we may not be in the midst of a full on 80's revival we have seen some elements of 80's glam on the catwalks. Metalics are one of those elements . We saw alot of metalic and shiny bags as part of the spring  handbag trends.

Marc Jacobs presented some gorgeous metallic bucket bags in shades of blue and gold.While at Delpozo we saw some beautiful shiny opalescent bags.The design house of Trussardi gave us some fabulous metallic red  and magenta bags ,

#3.HAND BAGS WITH FRINGE AND TASSELS

The old west is alive and well with fringes and tassels appearing for sring 2017. We saw many variations on tassels and tassel  attachments that added onto bags. While we may not always want it fringe is again prominent on bags for spring 2017.

Most noteworthy was the use of tassels and fringe by the big handbag producers like Coach that showed both fringe and tasseled bags , While at Elie Saab, the trend was all fringe , and was used with gorgeous effect.

HANDBAG TRENDS S/S 2017

Inconclusion Spring/Summer 2017 has some exciting fashion trends. I have shown three trends in handbags. There are many more trends that were shown in the collections for 2017.
