MODERN BEACH FASHION IS INSPIRED BY LILY PULITZER

Summer 2018  see's the rebirth of the fabulous days of 1960's Beach glamour. To put it differently the runways of summer 2018 are a live with designs right out of the 60's. Darlings the hay days of Palm Beach was one of the most glamorous times .

Lilly Pulitzer was a wealthy socialite in 1960's Palm Beach when she started making dresses . Moreover  these simple dresses were bright , patterned and splashy. Therefore the wasp-y winter home of the rich and famous Palm Beach , Florida spawned  one of my favorite things. The Lilly Pulitzer cotton shift dress .

Furthermore this simple dress ushered in the concept of modern resort wear. Lilly had  a local seamstress make up her simple designs . Then she sold her dresses at the fruit stand for $22.50.

Once Lilly became a big deal  the wealthy wasps started buying their "Lillys"from her fancy Worth Avenue shop. In fact they became the height of fashion paired with amazing jewels and glitzy footwear. In fact Jackie Kennedy was a huge fan . Henceforth the world of beach fashion was born.

SUMMER 2018 INSPIRED BY 1960'S 

The glamour beach wear of the 1960's was not reserved to Lilly Pulitzer and Palm Beach. In fact the 1960's saw a huge up swing in  resort life internationally. While Pulitzer took on Palm Beach , Hollywood took over Palm Springs. Furthermore the luxury resort style could be seen in the new playgrounds of the rich and famous . Since air travel became more available in the late 50's and 60's the rich and famous ventured farther a field. Hence destinations like the French Riviera, Italy's Amalfi coast ,Beirut, and Acapulco . Of course this new resort life demanded new clothes and the great age of 60's resort wear was born.

Of course this desire for new styles ,colors and patterns set up a huge demand . Certainly we saw the fashion industry working full force to meet this new market. Therefore with creativity and vision they produced the brilliant psychedelic patterns , jumpsuits, caftans and dresses  of the 1960's Beach wear.

SUMMER 2018 PRESENTS 1960'S INSPIRED BEACH WEAR

Darlings if your looking for a post of bathing suits you may be disappointed. Here's the runway looks of these fabulous  inspired beach clothes .First at Marc Jacobs we saw a tribute to Lilly Pulitzer . What we see here are swirly prints , rainbow colors and turbans. Let's take our Palm Beach socialite and turn up the volume .

Furthermore the house of Versace took us to the beach with their signature pattern short's bra-tops and cover-ups.

Since we're looking at those lovely 1960's patterns and colors it is alive and well on the runway at Peter Pilotto .

At the same time designers like Pucci have made  a career of these great 60's patterns.

I've found some great fun pieces that reflect my thesis . Therefore my dears enjoy the great looks I've found .

In conclusion darling's I hope you get the beach glamour look. Certainly there are many ways to dress for the resort life , but the modern look started in Palm Beach. Therefore we all owe a dept of gratitude to the socialite Lilly Pulitzer. While she is not with us any more she left a legacy of style. Furthermore whenever you visit Palm Beach think of Lilly.
