GANNI A TREASURE FROM COPPENHAGEN

First it's the beginning of another month and time for my brand or designer of the month , I choose Ganni.

When I sit down with fashion magazines I'm in another world. Since this is my time to read , look at photo's and educate myself on fashion, trends and stories. While I do read a lot of magazines and blogs on line I still love my glossy mags , it's an indulgence I enjoy. During my recent reading sessions I started to notice the name Ganni appearing.

Furthermore I have noticed this name coming up more and more. Recently a number of bloggers have shown this brand . Not to mention my favorite Blair Eadie ( Atlantic/Pacific ) who recently wore a red dress by this label.Therefore after seeing the label around I started looking into this brand more.

THE GANNI STORY

Darlings it's a rare thing to find a label that is so accessible to the "Every Woman." Since writing this blog and my previous years of experience I have come across only a couple of such brands. Often they are more obscure labels , loved by industry insiders. However in this case Ganni a is global phenomenon . Since being taken over by husband and wife duo Ditte Reffstrup, the label's Creative Director, and Nicolaj it's Ceo, the label has been on a upward projectory.

It started out as an antidote to the perception that everyone in Scandinavia was sartorially either androgynous or bohemian. However neither of these Ditte could identify with. So she set about creating clothes that she and her friends wanted to wear.

The label has an unfailing talent for nailing colorful, fun, just-sophisticated-enough pieces.For example see the striped sweaters, the banana and cherry print T-shirts and the cowboy boots. Moreover they have steadily cemented their place as a badge of honor among fashion’s best dressed over the past few seasons. Not that the team set out to create trend-generating clothes. When they started, Ditte insisted that they were not allowed to do anything that they didn’t want to wear thereselves. Furthermore the team were not allowed to do anything trend-led.
